Four Season Exhibition
Orielriel Lliw Gallery, Pontardawe Art Centre, Herbert St, Pontardawe, Swansea SA8 4ED
Oriel LLiw Gallery - Arts in the Tawe Valley
27th April to the 18th June
This exhibition aims to showcase the beauty of what surrounds us here in Wales. Nature is pure. I'm a firm believer that nature is essential for our souls. Our lives are becoming busy and full of distractions. Our "information age" has become more like an ‘overloading age’, full of distractions from our phones, emails, social media, adverts etc. Never more so in our lives have we needed to shut all this out, just to rekindle the soul, and I believe nature is our doorway to this.
This is why I fundamentally love to paint nature, to bring that beauty inside our homes and offices, to uplift the spirit, quieten the mind and allow our hearts to open. By being in the moment, we have this reminder of something fundamentally bigger than we are.
I chose the subject "Four Seasons" to remind us of the energy of nature. It is like magic unfolding in front of our eyes. Having been born here in South Wales and lived here all my life, this subject is close to my heart. I am still in constant wonder of this country, having a child’s eye view of its remarkable beauty.
Here are some photos of the exhibition
Summer Explosion of Wildflowers
Last Summer, with my dearest friend, we went to the National Botanic Gardens of Wales and came across a meadow of wildflowers that captured my heart.

Bluebells and Wild Garlic
I love the forests that surround us here in Wales, especially during the
spring months when there is a carpet of bluebells and a rich scent of wild garlic.

Autumn Golden Grasses
About 20 years ago, I spent time walking my dog on the mountain in a village called Seven Sisters, Wales. I decided to take a trip back a couple of years ago and was in awe of how beautiful it looked. When I’d last seen this field it was agricultural land with animals grazing. With the farm animals gone, the area had been transformed into gorgeous tall golden grasses that gently swayed in the breeze.

Melincourt Waterfall
I love this waterfall in the Neath Valley. When I first visited it I was just on a walk following a footpath and had no idea there would be this beautiful waterfall at the end of the path. It was a special surprise. I’ve since visited it regularly. It has inspired many artists and many more in the future.
