My Experience with Hope

In 2022, I was hit with a health crisis, and after overcoming my initial self-pity and ”Why Me?”( a topic I'll delve deeper into another time), hope became my greatest companion.

My cousin became the voice of reason, reminding me of my worth and the potential I had to contribute to the world. The uncertainty of overcoming this illness and the doubt of regaining my artistic abilities were daunting, but what remained was a persistent sense of hope.

Regardless of my uncertain future, I had a clear understanding that I had more to offer. If my physical ability to create art was compromised, I could still communicate through words. Despite the uncertainty clouding my future, hope prevailed, taking flight with a force of its own.

Now that I am well enough to paint again, I've embarked on a new series of artwork that embodies hope. I foresee the series expanding over the coming years as I narrate victories over life's hurdles. It is my desire that they inspire hope in others. We all have our battles, it's part of being human. My aspiration is to paint symbols of hope that people can display in their homes as a potent reminder of the power and importance of maintaining hope.



How to Nurture and Maintain Hope

Nurturing and maintaining hope, especially in difficult times, can be a challenging task. However, there are several strategies that can help.

Firstly, setting clear and realistic goals can provide a sense of direction and purpose, which are essential for fostering hope. It is important to remember that our goals should be flexible and adaptable, allowing us to adjust our plans as needed and avoid unnecessary disappointment and frustration.

Secondly, fostering positive relationships and seeking support from others can significantly enhance our sense of hope. Sharing our fears, doubts, and aspirations with others can provide emotional relief, boost our morale, and provide new perspectives that can help us stay hopeful.

Finally, practicing mindfulness and gratitude can also help us nurture hope. By focusing on the present moment and appreciating what we have, we can counter negative thoughts and emotions, and foster a more hopeful outlook.
